She may dominate the scene over at the Hot 100, but it seems Rihanna has some way to go before following suit at the Box Office.
For, despite being released internationally last month, it has only raked in $200 million worldwide- set to suffer more blows when it hits North American theaters May 18th.
Currently perched at #3 on the International Box Office, ‘Ship’ fell prey to ‘The Avengers‘ which pulled in a cool $157.4 million this weekend, $146 million more than the action flick based on the game of the same name.
This, an unsettling indicator as to how it will do in the US upon its arrival, especially as it needs to reap $500 million at Box Offices worldwide to pay off its alleged budget of $200 million-pretty unlikely if its global performance is anything to go by.
As if ‘The Avengers’ wasn’t enough to sink its ship (excuse us), Will Smith’s ‘Men In Black 3′ poses as a likely threat when it debuts May 23rd as well as this week’s #2 ‘Dark Shadows’, both of which Castleco-op.com director Blake Howard says may drown the project.
So what do you think?
