Simon Cowell sent shock waves across television this year, when he axed X Factor USA judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger after its first season.
Replacing them with Pop icon Britney Spears and rising star Demi Lovato, Cowell’s decision- though praised by many- left some questioning the mogul’s loyalty to Abdul, whom he had worked with for 8 years on American Idol.
Now, Paula has weighed in on the matter, branding him selfish.
Details below…
On Spears joining the show, she explained:
I know why. I think it’s gonna be great, people are anticipating seeing her. She’s had a long career and she’s overcome a tremendous amount of adversity and I’m always for the underdog coming back.
On Cheryl Cole‘s dismissal from the show:
She was starting work and all of a sudden she wasn’t there. That was an awful experience and I felt for that. She is a doll. She’s lovely.
Then, holding nothing back, she went in on Simon with:
For years, he’d call me like “Come ‘ere Paula, Come ‘ere Paula’, so I’d go ‘I’m not your puppy’.
Truth is, he thinks everyone wants him. Everyone thought there was something going on with us-erm- there’s no way I’d…
He admittedly said his own mouth got him into trouble. When he did the promotion for X Factor he said if we don’t get 20 million viewers the first show then I will consider it failure.
You put that out there and you don’t get 20 million viewers it out’s there that you’ve failed. I must say this, change happens and he had to do what he had to do and that supersedes friendship sometimes.
According to him we did a lot of hanging it out, but it would never because he’s selfish and he’d be a selfish lover, he’d call his own name out during sex.
