A day after VH1 cancelled her Reality TV show with husband Chad Johnson, Evelyn Lozada has issued a statement addressing the reason behind its cancellation- his alleged assault on her last weekend.
She explained:
“It is with great sadness and much trepidation that I release this statement addressing the domestic violence incident that happened this past Saturday.
I am deeply disappointed that Chad has failed to take responsibility for his actions and made false accusations against me, it is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles. Domestic violence is not okay and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well. I’m grateful to my family, friends and fans for the outpouring of support during this difficult time.”
While we can’t but empathize with Evelyn in the matter, here’s hoping she knows better than to play the ‘speak out against violence cause’ in response.
For, it’s pretty rich of her to play the “I want women to learn from my story” card when her entire brand is built on her own violent acts against…wait for it… other women.
By no means we downplaying the seriousness of Johnson’s actions if he did indeed headbutt her, but Team EV is dearly mistaken if they think many she can capitalize on the inevitable controversy this will garner.
Controversy, she needs to sustain a career dependent on the very fighting she now seems to be distancing herself from.
Controversy, that would have worked in her favor if she herself wasn’t as violent as the character she is accusing.
So, until further details emerge from Saturday’s event, peep Lozada in all her peaceful glory at the 1:50 mark above…
