Jill Scott Sings Praises Of ‘Steel Magnolias’ Remake

‘Long Walk’ wailer Jill Scott has long seen herself playing double duty in Hollywood – balancing rocking mics with rocking movies.  Adding another notch to that growing list of multitasking is the Lifetime-presented remake of ‘Steel Magnolias’ (Queen Latifah, Phylicia Rashad), the 1989 ‘chick flick’ classic starring Sally Fields, Dolly Parton and Julia Roberts.

Despite facing a lawsuit from the original’s producer (threatening to halt the movie‘s airing this Sunday), news has surfaced that the project is moving full speed ahead.  As originally scheduled, you can catch it on Lifetime this Sunday, October 7th @ 9p EST.

Until then, see Scott sing the praises of the movie and her co-stars above.

Looking forward to seeing the movie tomorrow night. The idea of an African American cast for this movie seems perfect to me. I also posted this on my site for Bring Back the No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency on facebook. Looking forward to seeing Miss Jill as Truvy and waitng for her return as Mma Ramotswe. Good luck to all the ladies.

  • I tried to hear what she was sayin but I was just mesmerized by that home grown rack this bitch is rocking

  • I very much enjoyed seeing this collection of powerful actresses in the television adaptation of Steel Magnolias. I thought that the show was a good vehicle for Condola to get her name out there and was a good first big project for her. Honestly, I’m a bit partial to the movie because Queen Latifah wore one of my company’s products (the Cheetah cape) in the salon scene where the lights go out. Razor Sharp Salon Wear http://www.berazorsharp.com is so proud and excited to be a part of this empowering story of female friendship.
