As reported here, ‘Whip My Hair’ hitmaker Willow Smith was cast to play the lead role in a reboot of the classic children’s film ‘Annie’. Produced by Jay Z and her parents Will & Jada Pinkett Smith, the ’21st Century Girl’ was set to bring an updated version of the prized musical to the 21st century…
That is, until reports surfaced today indicating otherwise. Citing Smith simply “outgrowing” the role as cause of her exit, it does the appear the Will Gluck-directed movie has not halted production in her absence.
As time of reporting, no release date has been set for the film. The search for her replacement, however, is said to be nearing its close.
