Watch: Paula Deen Apologizes For Racist Remarks / Gets Dropped By Food Network

Published: Friday 21st Jun 2013 by TGJ

Unlike the photo seen below, we’re not sure Paula Deen is smiling much these days after the net has been flooded with headlines detailing a recent lawsuit alleging the use of racist remarks by the kitchen queen.

After admitting to the use of the “N” word (as reported here) during a legal deposition, Deen stirred controversy with the succeeding defense of her use of the racial epithet.  In the days since it surfaced online, spokespeople for the Savannah savant as well as Deen herself  (via Youtube video above) have denied that she is racist.  Their pleas were not enough, however, as news has surfaced today that the top chef has been dropped by longtime TV home Food Network.

The channel did not detail a reason why they decided against renewing Deen’s show – one of their top rated – but speculation suggests it is due to the current storm of bad press surrounding Miss Deen.

Good PR knows PR. This is DAMAGE CONTROL at its finest and simplest form. Anyway…. serves her fat ass right! She would have never apologized if the media/lawsuit wouldn’t have shined light on the situation at hand.

…..(Throws out all Paula Deans expensive ass Cookware)

I have been so surprised to hear about this in the media. Not only as a person of color, but a fan I am shocked and hurt. Please everyone do not forget, this comes after 5 years of her worker being verbally abused and sexually harassed by not only Ms. Deen, but the same family that she mentions in the video above. I agree that we all make mistakes, but truthfully, a mistake is something that happens once and once corrected, not again. This was no mistake, this is her as a person. The mistake, was thinking that it wasnt going to get out. Calling blacks the slurs of our ancestors is not cool in anyway. I do agree also, with those who believe that blacks should not call other blacks the n word be it ended with an er or an a. I do though, have to say, if its what we were given as a name, shouldnt we be able to use it as we please? I mean its the only thing that we could take from slavery, and maybe it is used among us so much because theres a comfort in being able to use it, and not have to worry about the slash of a whip across our backs. I can not express my disgust with the topic enough. Ms Deen has not only been extremely distasteful and discriminatory in her manner of behavior, but has done one of the worst things by reintroducing this act into an already corrupt world. “Little ni**ers in white shirts with bow ties,” then goes on to say, “back in the time of Shirley Temple, they used to tap dance in these outfits.” There is no other way for the media to portray it… blatant racism. But ni**ers were not tap dancing around the prices of her spirial hams and other grocery items she produced, we paid the price. Isnt it time for us to not have to keep paying for being a different color?

If she was black then nobody would care. Every black comedian I have seen uses the N word.
